I've never had a pedicure, either. I just can't get past the thought of having someone messing with my feet. *shudder* But y'all make it sound so indulgent and lovely (except for the slugs in a bucket thing...eeewww!), maybe I'll reconsider. I'll reconsider considering it, lol.

I don't believe I posted to the old Goddess thread. It's silly to be shy on a message board, lol. Apparently I still have residual feelings left over from never being one of the cool kids in school. wink

I've also heard that Cetaphil is really good, tho I haven't tried it myself yet. My skin is ashy more often than not these days, tho, so I'm on the hunt for that magic cream myself.

Edited to add: nikko and I were writing at the same time. smile

I guess they aren't slugs... they're carp. Here's the deal:

Visitors to Sarasota can now add this fishy pedicure to the list of odd and quirky things to do on their next vacation to Florida's Cultural Coast. Commonly called doctor fish, these scaly spa technicians leave feet invigorated and smooth following a 25-minute treatment that's a bit tingly and ticklish. Definitely a treatment befitting any mermaid.
What Exactly is Ichthyotherapy?

The concept of using live fish for pedicures stems from Turkey where a fish species of carp (Garra rufa) is used in the treatment of psoriasis. The tiny brownish-green fish, no longer than four centimeters (about 1.5 inches), are toothless and feed on dead skin cells.

The concept called ichthyotherapy (using fish to treat illness) has been adopted by many Asian countries for health and beauty purposes. The fish remove tired and dead skin cells encouraging new growth for a more youthful appearance and it's believed the process also improves circulation.

Yes, lil, you are excused at 4:30AM in the barn.

But you know, its funny. Before Mimi bootcamp, I used to go to the store not looking my best, figuring it wouldn't matter. But so many times I've run into someone I knew and felt great that I looked good. Plus it makes the whole day better.

Just love, love, love the Goddess thread. There was one floating around MB at one time. Great ideas.

When the A started I was the original fat frumpy girl. XH was always the pretty one. Can't believe the wardrobe I wore, It was embarrassing. I was never that girly girly.

I had to take a long hard look at myself and it was shocking. Started to walk the beach every night to ease my pain of XH leaving. Then I started the gym at lunch time because I knew XH was sneaking off with the plastic pig.

The first 18 pounds were the infidelity diet but then I lost another 29. I wear regular size clothes now...ok they are XL but I am out of plus sizes. I still have 30 pounds I would like to lose.

Changed my hair, grew it out and had it highlighted, got pedis for the first time in my life.

Started wearing heels. Shocked XH when we came out of a meeting and he said when did you start wearing shoes like that?

Went to Cali in March of 09 and met some fellow MBers and had a great time with DD17. TryingtoLive (who I hope joins up) took me by the hand and helped my self confidence which I thank her to this day. She helped me discover a little shop called Fredericks (tee-hee) and I bought some of those push them up and out.

At 54 years old I feel truly feminine for the first time in my life. I wear clothes that fit.

Big believer in any kind of body lotion and moisturizer for face. Great store in New Jersey that I order body lotion and soap from.

I had my teeth whitened.

I do yoga, crunches, weights and cardio. If I get this weight off of me I will get a tummy tuck. Why because I deserve it.

Never felt that way before but if we don't care enough about ourselves then why should anyone else??

Mimi, the only other Goddess I knew was the Domestic Goddess of Roseanne. I loved the Goddess thread on MB and my MB friends saved me when I was drowning.

Thanks for this. More to come.

You could put a white dress on a pig, guess what it is still a pig.

LOL, this is definitely not goddessnesslying at it's best shocked

I started using Aloette bath products a couple of years ago.
The body lotions are amazing when used after the same line of body washes, the scrubs are good too.
Light fresh scent that stays that way, no icky smell.

Pedis ..... I've paid for two, after that I started doing my own. I'll sit down with a basin of water in front of the TV, usually will time it when a fave show is on.
Love em, love em, love em!

Hair ...... I've tried to grow out my colour, yuck that was painful and I gave it up cuz I realized that I had more gray than what I thought.
I do the foils for highlights every 3-4 months, otherwise I have my roots only done every 3 weeks. This seems to have helped to not dry my hair out so much.
What is it with colour and the temple area. ugh.

When I read about the slug treatment, before reading it was actually fishies, all I could think about was leech therapy, lol.
At work we would attach leeches to skin grafts, wait for them to finish their job and fall off, then discard them into a jar.
The worst was not finding the same number to discard that you applied. frown shocked

I appreciate that everybody's situation is different. I'm not judging.

Thing is: it really DOES matter to my husband HOW I LOOK..sigh...

More recently, he has this thing about my BLACK PANTS..

I almost don't want to believe it but finally had to admit and acknowledge his BLACK PANTS thing..

I betcha he would want me to wear them every day.

So here we go again..yesterday we're going out and I have my outfit picked out. I'm kinda OCD..so hang it on the bathroom door and he says: "I washed your BLACK PANTS..maybe you can wear those instead"...I swear, I think I just wore them the day before..but I wore them...

I think it's something about how they fit on my butt with the two back pockets... blush..I don't know...

He's over the top if I wear the Pink Cheetah Design top with them...

Oh My...

This whole dressing thing I'm sure was part of my H's initial attraction to me over 30 years ago. I picked out special "OUTFITS" for our dates and basically, I'm a person that's into style and dressing.

Then, came the babies and years of focus on MOTHERHOOD and I lost MYSELF...

Got MYSELF back during PLAN A and haven't turned back and HE wanted ME back all along...

I don't know what happens to us..why we lose OURSELVES..I'm encouraging young women not to do it..

However you were when your husabnd was first attracted to you..is what he is wanting..He didn't want HER, he wanted YOU...well, that was the case for ME and I think many more women..not true in all affairs, though..

Vittoria - Looked it up online. Is the hand and body silk lotion a good one?

I really need something. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of lotion I buy, goes on good and then starts STINKING. Hope it isn't me.

Of course I buy cheap stuff from Bath and Body Works. It starts out as Cucumber Melon, or Night Blooming Jasmine and turns into Old Alley Cat.

omg, you're killin' me (LMAO) with your descriptions of the odour ...... old alley cat (aka stinkin' [Bleep!], LOL)

Yes, the it's the hand and body silk. There was a bodywash in that line but they discontinued it. Another one would work though.

Thanks, I'm going to order it and hope it works. I've been so disappointed in all the stuff I have. I often smell other women (that sounds gross!) in the store and they smell good. Just want a hint of a scent, not all perfumy either.

I was autocensored, just to clarify that was not a cuss word!

believer, consider finding a rep in your area and asking for a sample first.
It's kind of a waste of money if you don't like it.
Watch the shopping channel too, they have specials!
I get the same special from my rep that the shopping channel offers.

I don't think I can give up my sweats.

However, I finally started buying myself sleepwear - nothing lacy or sexy (though I do have those) just cute cotton shorts or pants with a cute top. I used to just wear oversized t-shirts to bed. I really enjoy having jammies. smile It's a step, right?

And, I think I've worn tennies to work ONCE this summer (we were allowed to wear jeans during the summer, we're back to bus cas starting tomorrow) because I found cute shoes after I started having pedi's. smile

I think I'll start with hair and makeup every day, even if I'm not going out. That's enough of a challenge for the ol' Anti Chick. grin

And I'll promise not to go out in public in sweats. grin

Sounds like a start. Hair and makeup every day is good.

You can get rid of the sweats later.

The goddess stuff will grow on you. When I started with Mimi, I didn't wear makeup, do my hair, or get dressed to go out.

I have just had my feet sucked for the first time by 'Dr Fish' and it was blissful. After the initial tickly sensation, you get used to it and my feet were as smooth as a baby's bottom afterwards.

I am not a fan of pedicures because about 10 years ago, the beautician cut me badly with the nail clippers and I can't relax now. I do go occasionally but I always tell the lady my experience so she is extra careful and I watch like a hawk, instead of lying back with a good magazine and relaxing.

I don't think I will ever wear high heels again as I had surgery in the summer on my right leg and my foot keeps puffing up like when I was pregnant. It is probably a whole size bigger than the other one right now, but I'm hoping in time it will settle to something a bit more manageable. Does anyone have any experience of this? Can I expect improvement?

I am getting older and need to take better care of myself. You are all very inspiring.

PS. I'm registered as Tummytuck/Tucktummy on BM but I never did pluck up the courage for the surgery!
