One of the things I like best about this book is that it goes through translations of what people say when they think they are listening, and what they are really saying. Most of this list corresponds to the invalidation list at EQI.org
. The book also covers how to take criticism without over-reacting. Much like Steven Stosney, Dr. Nichols attributes negative reactions and argumentation to a statement that caused us to feel bad internally.
Overall, a great read, although it could really use a second edition with some exercises and action items.
